University of Minnesota Executive Vice President and Provost Rachel Croson visited Greater China in mid-December. She participated in a number of activities to support and renew the University's engagement there.

Provost Croson met with leaders of two long-standing university partners to renew agreements. In Shanghai, she led a delegation visit at Shanghai Jiaotong University and signed an updated Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). In Shenzhen, she led a delegation visit to the Chinese University of Hong Kong - Shenzhen and completed a MOU agreement with that institution on behalf of the College of Science and Engineering (Twin Cities).

Additionally, the Provost participated in a multi-day academic conference on Behavioral Operations Research and Behavioral Operations Management in Wuxi, China, where she gave a keynote address. The conference was organized by the Operations Research Society of China, Jiangnan University, and Tsinghua University.

Provost Croson was a featured guest in multiple engagements with University alumni and supporters in Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. In each city, she met with alumni network leaders and others, sharing updates on a variety of topics across the system, including University leadership transitions, support for international students, the strength of the research and commercialization enterprise, and efforts to bolster our position in key rankings. The many alumni who were able to meet Provost Croson were very appreciative of her visit and engagement.

Other UMN faculty and staff participating in the visit included Professor Tony Cui, Carlson School of Management; Professor David Pui, College of Science and Engineering; Tim Wolf, Director, International Development, University of Minnesota Foundation; and Fran Liu, Director, University of Minnesota China Office.
