UMN scholars receive Fulbright awards for 2023-24

Several UMN faculty and professionals have been selected as 2023-24 Fulbright U.S. Scholars. Fulbright Scholar Awards are prestigious fellowships that provide opportunities to teach and research abroad while creating relationships between people and nations. The program sends U.S. scholars and professionals to approximately 130 countries, where they lecture and/or conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.

  • Dr. Michael Zavada, Division of Science & Math, Morris — Peru
  • Dr. Dmytro Bilyk, School of Mathematics, Twin Cities — Austria
  • Jeffrey Cross, Ph.D. Candidate in Religions in Antiquity, Twin Cities — Israel
  • Dr. Joseph Talghader, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Twin Cities — Australia
  • Dr. Byron Vaughn, Medical School, Twin Cities — Uganda

The Global Programs and Strategy Alliance is the Twin Cities campus representative for the Fulbright Scholar programs for faculty and professionals.

Applications are now open for 2024-25 awards, with a deadline of September 15, 2023, 11.59 PM PST.
